Fourth SEISS grant eligibility check and what HMRC means by 'reasonable belief’ and ‘significant reduction’

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) recently updated its guidance on the fourth Self-Employment Income Support Scheme grant (SEISS ) which will open for applications in late April.

The fourth grant covers the period from February 1, 2021 to April 30, 2021 and if you are eligible for financial support worth up to £7,500, based on your tax returns, HMRC will contact you in mid-April to give you a date that you can make your claim from.

This will be given to you either by email, letter or within the online service and you will need to make your claim by June 1, 2021.HMRC guidance also states that you will need to confirm that you meet other eligibility criteria when you make your claim.
