Four young boys died in fire 'surrounded by excrement after mum went to Sainsbury's'

A mum accused of killing her four young sons was on a shopping trip to the supermarket when the blaze which took their lives broke out, a court has heard.

Deveca Rose's boys - two sets of twins - are said to have died in a home filled with rubbish and strewn with human excrement when she left them home alone.

The 29-year-old is charged with four counts of manslaughter over the death of her children, four-year-olds Kyson and Bryson and Leyton and Logan, three.

Fire tore through the mid-terrace house they shared in Sutton, south London, after an upturned tea light or discarded cigarette sparked flames.The Mirror reports jurors at the Old Bailey were told that, at about 6.30pm on December 16 2021, she left the children unattended at the house in Collingwood Road and went to Sainsbury’s.
