A court has heard that four young boys tragically lost their lives in a fire, surrounded by rubbish and human excrement, after their mother left them home alone to go on a trip to Sainsbury's.
Deveca Rose, 29, is currently facing trial for the manslaughter of her two sets of twins, Leyton and Logan Hoath, aged three, and Kyson and Bryson Hoath, aged four, as well as child cruelty.
The tragic incident occurred when a discarded cigarette or upturned tea light sparked a blaze at their terraced home in Sutton, South London.
During the opening of Rose's trial at the Old Bailey on Monday, Kate Lumsdon KC detailed how the defendant was a single mother, having separated from the boys' father Dalton Hoath.
