Two men and two women have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing that saw two schools placed on lockdown.
The 'serious assault' happened on Alexandra Street in Tyldesley shortly before 9am this morning. Police and paramedics attended at 8:50am and found the injured man, who is in his 40s.
He was taken to hospital by ambulance where he remains. His injuries are 'serious but not life-threatening" Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.
The surrounding area was cordoned off as an investigation into the attack got underway.
