Jack Doohan is addressing his future at BWT Alpine F1 Team. The 22-year-old rookie Formula 1 driver made his race debut at the final round in Abu Dhabi last December, and will be a full time driver alongside Pierre Gasly in the upcoming 2025 season.
In January, it was announced that Franco Colapinto, who made his mid-season debut for Williams Racing last year, will be a reserve driver for Alpine, and immediately prompted speculation that he would likely replace Jack at some point this season.
While speaking at a recent event, Jack opened up about being motivated and looking forward to the season. Keep reading to find out more… “I’m very motivated,” the Australian driver told Sky Sports. “I look forward, to be honest, to just getting on track and doing the work with my hands and my feet and steering that car as best as I can.” “It’s a super special time for me, I’m stoked to be a part of it,” he added.
As for making his full-time debut this year, Jack notes that it’s a “super special” time. “I’ve been watching these guys ever since I was a little boy, especially Lewis,” he said. “So to be coming in to be one of the 20 drivers on the grid, it’s super special and I look forward to just cementing my place here for the future.” Amid speculation Jack could be replaced, Team Principal Oliver Oakes has assured that the driver will get a “fair crack at it.” “It’s been a little bit harsh on Jack, some of the stuff that was written by the keyboard warriors there, and he’s getting his fair crack at it next year,” he said on the James Allen On F1 podcast. “And I think the intention there isn’t to put [pressure] on his shoulders.
