Fashion journalist and former editor of Vogue André Leon Talley has died at the age of 73. According to TMZ, he passed away in a New York City hospital on Tuesday 18 January following a battle with an unspecified illness.
André is remembered for being a key figure in Vogue's history as he drove the magazine's direction in the 1980s and '90s. He then worked his way up to become news director, a role he held from 1983 to '87.
His success only grew as he worked his way up to creative director for the company and stayed in that position for seven years.
