Former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood has admitted that he should have heeded Sir Alex Ferguson's advice when taking charge at White Hart Lane.
Sherwood was initially appointed on a caretaker basis following Andre Villas-Boas' exit from North London in December 2013 - just six months after Ferguson's retirement as United boss.
The former Blackburn and Spurs midfielder went on to be offered the role on an 18-month deal a week later. And Sherwood says that Ferguson was in touch with him after he took charge, making it clear that he would have to keep the media on his side as a main part of the job.
