A former Royal Marine who used to sunbathe on helipads slathered in cooking oil has been left with a huge hole in his nose from skin.

Les Chadderton had no concerns over harmful UV rays and would happily allow himself to 'fry' in his downtime in places like Singapore when he joined the military as a young man.

But now the grandad-of-six is speaking out to warn others to take the dangers from UV rays more seriously after he says he had a "wake up call" with his cancer diagnosis.

Les realised something was wrong after he noticed a spot on his nose which wouldn’t stop bleeding whenever he towel dried, reports the Daily Record.
