Former Manchester United talent Angel Gomes - who has recently been linked with a return transfer to the club - has penned a statement explaining why he is to undergo surgery on a persistent injury.
After rising through the age groups at Old Trafford from six-years-old to 16, Gomes made 10 senior appearances for Man United.
Unfortunately the lack of opportunities forced him to make the decision to move away and kickstart his career with French club Lille.
There he has finally flourished, playing 129 matches for the club to the point where he was recognised by Lee Carsley to join the senior England squad this year.
