Former Glasgow Warriors player Federico Aramburú 'shot dead' in France

A former Scots rugby player was killed outside of a bar in Paris this morning. According to media reports, Federico Martín Aramburú was shot dead in the Boulevard Saint-Germain area of the French capital around 6am on Saturday.

The death of the former Glasgow Warriors player was reported by news website Clarin in his native country Argentina as well as French outlet L'Equipe.

It is understood Aramburu and a friend became involved in an altercation with two men at the bar they were drinking at.The two other men left the scene and returned with a gun used to fatally wound Aramburu.As reported in Glasgow Live, the 42-year-old earned 22 caps for Argentina and was part of the Los Pumas squad who finished third at the Rugby World Cup in France in 2007, and turned out for the likes of Perpignan, Biarritz and Club Atlético de San Isidro at club level.

The former winger's stint with Glasgow Warriors saw him play 41 times for the Scotstoun side after signing in the summer of 2010.Glasgow Warriors paid tribute to the Argentine on social media in the wake of the tragic news.They tweeted: "We are shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden and tragic death of Warrior #185, Federico Aramburu."The embodiment of a true Warrior and much-loved by all, the thoughts of everyone past and present at the club, are with his family at this immensely difficult time."Joining them was the Rugby World Cup, who tweeted: "The rugby family mourns the loss of former Argentina winger Federico Martín Aramburú at the age of 42.
