Ex-EastEnders star Tamzin Outhwaite, 53, is starring in the new Channel 5 series The Wives, and has opened up about how she felt a deep connection with her character Sylvie on a personal level. "Sylvie talks about the fact that she's having a midlife crisis.
I don't think she really is. I think she's having a rebirth post divorce and this is the beginning of her new life. So I could really relate to that," Tamzin admits, reflecting on her own life after her divorce from Lucifer star Tom Ellis, with whom she shares children Flo, 16, and Marnie, 12.
The actress isn't the only soap legend in the mix; she's teamed up with Jo Joyner, famous for her role as Tanya Branning in EastEnders, and Coronation Street's Angela Griffin, known for her turn as Fiona Middleton. The series charts the story of sisters-in-law Sylvie, Beth (played by Jo), and Natasha (played by Angela) as they embark on their yearly getaway to Malta, except this time, circumstances have dramatically changed.
Sylvie is embracing single life, Natasha is secretly battling financial woes, and their friend Annabelle (portrayed by Christine Bottomley) has been mysteriously absent since vanishing on the island the previous year.
