A former Celtic star has helped raise £10,000 for a Lanarkshire children’s charity by raffling dozens of signed Hoops jerseys.

Rudi Vata, and wife Ann Frances Murray, were determined to help out the Les Hoey DreamMaker Foundation after realising the difficulties they were facing when the pandemic hit.The Albanian defender, who played under Tommy Burns during his time with the Parkhead club in the 90s, was soon regularly drawing out names from the hat live on Facebook with the lucky winners claiming signed Celtic tops, boots, and all sorts of club memorabilia.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Ann Frances says she was never shy at asking the current first team at Celtic for autographs for the raffle prizes as she regularly frequented Lennoxtown, where son Rocco Vata, 16, currently plays for Celtic's B team.And in a big push over the Christmas period, a signed jersey from fan-favourite Kyogo Furuhashi brought in a fantastic £1130.
