A former B&M employee has shared what it's really like behind the scenes at the iconic bargain store.Beloved for its treasure trove of deals hidden within its packed aisles, bargain hunters can spend hours scouring its shelves for deals of all kinds. But what about the people that make the magic happen?
Former staffer Darren Dowling, who has worked at retailers like Poundland, Asda and Cineworld, has said working at B&M was like a marathon every shift.Darren, who goes as Dazza online, says he has never seen the "range of stock like it", reports the Mirror.
When asked by customers about certain products, he admits he wouldn't know where they could be found either. He would "find it funny" when people assumed he would know "off by heart where one of the million products are." He even claims that most of his colleagues "wouldn't have a clue" given the sheer volume of items. When it came to day-to-day work, Darren says he walked as much as a marathon most days."The other thing about B&M people need to realise is that we do a ridiculous amount of walking.
I wish I counted my steps because I'm pretty sure I walked a marathon most days. You'd always have to go from one side of the store to the other.
