Police cordoned off an area outside a pub in Rochdale on Sunday night (February 18) after a man, 70, was left seriously injured after a violent assault.
Emergency services, including police and paramedics, along with crime scene investigators, attended the incident on Shawclough Road, outside the Talbot Head pub, at around 9.15pm.
Witnesses said the cordon remained in place until the early hours of Monday morning. Officers also made door-to-door enquiries as part of investigations throughout the night.
