Travel advice for both Spain and Portugal has been updated by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) as Storm Oscar batters popular holiday destinations.
The storm is bringing heavy rain and strong winds to the Canary Islands, Madeira, Porto Santo and the Azores. Weather warnings have been issued by the Spanish Meteorological Agency (AEMET) and the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
The UK Met Office previously warned that the storm could bring massive waves and possible flooding. The Canary Islands are expected to be affected until Thursday June 8, with winds of up to 55mph forecast.
Meanwhile winds of up to 68mph are expected in Madeira with a red weather warning issued for the island, although the storm should have moved on by Wednesday.
