Foreign Office issues France holiday warning amid evacuation fears

The UK's Foreign Office has issued an important update for people travelling to France.British travellers have been warned by French officials over potential evacuation and civil unrest warnings which could impact holiday plans.The Foreign Office want Brits to be aware of the risks of flying to parts of the country, which have endured forest fires from heatwaves and protests.

Many regions of France are popular holiday destinations, with Brits planning to holiday there in the summer season. Earlier this month , 100 firefighters were deployed to tackle a forest fire in Southern France, reports Birmingham Live.

The Foreign Office has warned that forest fires are prevalent in parts of Southern France and could affect people's holidays if they are forced to evacuate.

Government officials warned that they could occur "anywhere in southern France during the summer months but especially along the Mediterranean coast and in Corsica".The spokesperson continued: "In recent years, fires have become more frequent due to drought and high temperatures."French Authorities may evacuate areas and close roads for safety reasons."If you’re staying in a high-risk area you should familiarise yourself with the local safety and emergency procedures, be vigilant and follow the advice of local authorities."A warning has also been issued over unrest in some parts of the country.In March 2022 there were large demonstrations in Corsica which occasionally became violent.Violent clashes broke out between protesters and police on France’s Mediterranean island of Corsica as local anger intensified over the assault in prison of a nationalist figure.Since then protests have calmed down but the Government is still telling people to be wary.It says: "In
