Footballer, 16, killed in horror canal crash with dad as club pays tribute

A young footballer has been killed in a horror car crash which also claimed the life of his dad. Cameron Walsh, 16, died following the accident at Tetney Lock, near Grimsby, on Saturday.

Grimsby Town have released an emotional statement paying tribute to the "much-loved" and "undeniably talented" teenager, who was a youth player at the club.As reported by the Mirror, the car in which they were travelling in came off Tetney Lock Road, which runs alongside the Louth Canal.

Local officers said the pair were both pronounced dead at the scene and they have since appealed for witnesses.Grimsby said in a statement: "Grimsby Town Football Club mourns the tragic loss of youth team member and his father.

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that Grimsby Town Football Club announces the untimely passing of one of our cherished youth team members, Cameron Walsh, aged 16, and his father Dave.
