The sudden death of a "fit and healthy" mum-of-two, 55, remains a mystery after she died whilst waiting for an appointment with her GP.

An inquest was told that mum-of-two Helena Maffei had been waiting to speak to her GP for three hours, but when they eventually called her back, Mrs Maffei was having a seizure.

Her 28-year-old son Giuseppe called 999 for help and paramedics arrived but were unable to save her and she was declared dead at her home in Birmingham, Worcestershire Coroners’ Court heard.

Mrs Maffei collapsed at 2am on the day of her death, but wouldn’t let her family ring for an ambulance as she said she would call a GP in the morning.
