First picture of man who died following crash in Dumbarton as name released

A pedestrian who died after he was hit by a car on a main road in Dumbarton has been named as 42-year-old Alan Baker. Alan, who hailed from the Dumbarton area, was struck by a white Skoda Fabia at around 11.20pm on Sunday July 10.

Emergency services descended on the scene of the crash on the A814 Cardross Road and rushed him to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

Sadly, he did not survive his injuries and died on Monday July 11. Police released his identity on Saturday and are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time to get in touch if they have any information relating to the incident.

Sergeant Lloyd Caven, of Police Scotland's Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with Alan’s family and friends at this difficult time.
