First new Everton Stadium goalscorer busts out Liverpool celebration to mark history making moment

The first goal at the new Everton Stadium has been scored...by a Liverpool fan.The Toffees are holding a test event for their new ground at Bramley-Moore Dock ahead of it opening ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season.

Their Under 18s are taking on Wigan Athletic in front of 10,000 fans in the freshly built 52,888 seater arena. But things aren't going to plan for the hosts, who find themselves 2-0 down at the break.And to make things worse, the first goal was celebrated with a ruthless reminder of just how much success city rivals Liverpool have enjoyed over the years.

Harrison Rimmer's low strike arrowed into the corner handed the Latics the lead, and gave the midfielder the honour of being the first player to ever score at the new venue.

But as he headed off to the corner to celebrate, Rimmer let everyone know where his loyalties lie but holding up six fingers.For the uninitiated, it's a common reference to the six European Cups and Champions League the club from across Stanley Park have won in their history.
