Happy Valley's James Norton is starring in new Netflix IVF drama 'JOY', which tells the true story of Louise Joy Brown, the first person born through In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) in Oldham.
The British actor, also known for his roles in War & Peace and Grantchester, is starring alongside Bill Nighy and Thomasin McKenzie, in the movie drama about the birth of the first 'test-tube baby'.
Louise Joy Brown, who was born in July 1978, was the first person to have been born after conception by in vitro fertilisation experiments. Netflix have set about telling her story and the decade-long journey to make it possible. Louise's parents, Lesley and John Brown, had been trying to conceive naturally for nine years however mum Lesley had faced complications of blocked fallopian tubes.
