Anton Falck and Joakim Wei Bernild are two best buds doing the best kind of best bud shit: making pop music with pristine vibes.
Their joint project First Hate released the debut A Prayer For The Unemployed in 2017, a project where the euphoria of the most obnoxious mid-90s Scandanavian pop was miraculously conjured from marble-polished, pared-back instrumentation.
Today they return with two new songs, "Commercial" and "In My Head," taken from the upcoming Cotton Candy, out on May 27. "Commercial," the album's lead single, is a progressive house filtered through Pure Hate's playful workflow.
The heart-swelling hook distracts from the song's core of disillusionment, as Joakim said in a press statement. "Big white smiles and perfect photoshopped bodies with over-dimensioned features on everything from big billboards on the highway to our Instagram feed.
