Broadcaster Fiona Phillips has shared the sad news that she has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease, revealing to the Mirror that it has "ravaged" her family and now it has "come for" her too.
Fiona and her husband, This Morning editor Martin Frizell, have opened up about how the illness has impacted their marriage, with Martin, 64, telling The Mirror that he has had to ramp up his husband duties following his wife's diagnosis.
He told the outlet: "Before I didn’t ever have to worry about Fiona before and now I do. ‘What is she doing all day while I’m at work?
What is she doing in the evening if I’m out? what has she eaten?’” The couple, who have been married since 1997 and share two children together, met while they both worked on GMTV, and although Fiona had never planned to get married, Martin proposed to his now-wife after just four weeks.
