Elizabeth II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary; born 21 April 1926) is Queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms. Elizabeth was born in London, the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York, later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, and she was educated privately at home. Her father ascended the throne on the abdication of his brother King Edward VIII in 1936, from which time she was the heir presumptive. She began to undertake public duties during the Second World War, serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service. In 1947, she married Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, a former prince of Greece and Denmark, with whom she has four children: Charles, Prince of Wales; Anne, Princess Royal; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.

‘Festival of Football’ is heading to Escape To Freight Island for the World Cup

A ‘festival of football’ will be heading to Escape To Freight Island ready for the start of the World Cup. The outdoor and indoor spaces of the sprawling beer garden and food hall will be transformed with a special ‘pub zone’ and a huge space to watch the matches.

The festivities will start on Monday November 21, the day of the first England match against Iran, which will kick off at 1pm UK time, until the final on December 18.

The matches will be shown in the Platform room on a huge screen, with the ‘pub zone’ setting up in the tap room. Meanwhile, the Plant Room will be transformed into a family and child-friendly zone, which is covered and heated.

The England matches will all be shown on the big screen in the Platform room, while all other matches will be screened in the pub zone.
