Fergie makes ITV Loose Women debut and opens up on body dysmorphic disorder

Sarah Ferguson spoke candidly about her struggle with body dysmorphia on Loose Women on Thursday. The Duchess of York made her debut on the ITV show to launch a breast cancer awareness campaign following her treatment for the disease earlier this year.

Following her diagnosis, the royal had an eight-hour single mastectomy operation after discovering she had an early form of breast cancer during a routine mammogram.Speaking on the Loose Women panel she revealed that following her wedding to Prince Andrew in 1986, she suffered severe body dysmorphia.

She said: "Honestly, from that moment on I had real body dysmorphia disorder and so much self-hatred."Previously, Fergie spoke frankly about her body dysmorphia and her struggles with eating.Speaking to Glamour, she looked back on an encounter she had previously with a journalist who had been responsible for some of the language used to describe the Duchess's appearance.Ferguson recalled an encounter with the editor who coined the shocking moniker 'Duchess of Pork'.“I walked into the factory floor, and there was a little chap at the end,” she said. “He was very jovial and round with a bald head and tiny—and he was laughing hysterically.

I went up to him and I went, ‘What’s the joke? C’mon, what’s the joke.’”She continued: “He said, ‘Well, we’re legends, aren’t we?
