Minshull Street Crown Court heard.Murphy, of Rochdale, then stole the woman’s phone as she was using it, threatening to sell it if she didn’t get him some drugs.Moments later he called for his neighbour to come outside and acted aggressively towards him, staring at him and moving forwards whilst he held his right hand behind his back.As the neighbour tried to calm him down, Murphy ‘lunged’ at him, calling him a ‘f***ing P**i’ and began hitting him with a baton he had hidden behind his back.The man put his arms up to protect his head as he was hit ten times, and said afterwards he ‘felt like they had been broken’, but only received cuts and bruising.Murphy pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm which was racially.
