A fast-moving wildfire broke out Thursday afternoon near West Hills, northwest of Los Angeles, threatening homes. The Kennith Fire was first reported around 2:30 p.m.

in an area of dry brush in the Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space Preserve. The Los Angeles Fire Department has issued a mandatory evacuation order for Vanowen Street south to Burbank Boulevard, County Lane Road east to East Valley Circle Boulevard.

An evacuation warning has been issued for an area bordered by Ingomar and Saticoy Streetssouth to Burbank Boulevard, from Valley Circle Boulevard east to Woodlake Avenue.
