A family says a dream trip to America turned into 'something off Fawlty Towers' after they were told their flight booking didn't exist.
Neil and Michele Travis, from Cheshire, say their holiday to Florida - a "special treat" for them and their 20-year-old daughter Georgia - was a 'nightmare from start to finish' and have hit out at airline Aer Lingus for their 'catastrophic' experience.
The couple spent £6,000 on business class flights from Manchester Airport to Fort Lauderdale with the airline in order to visit friends they hadn't seen for five years. However, when the family from Alsager, near Crewe in East Cheshire, arrived at JFK International Airport in New York on June 16 they were shocked to find that their connecting flight with the airline's partner, Jet Blue, did not exist, reports Cheshire Live.
Although there was a connecting flight leaving that evening, it was fully booked and Aer Lingus could not get them on another flight for two days.
