Family mark 25 years of Rutherglen restaurant business by raising money for Beatson in memory of Tully

Restaurateurs at a popular eaterie in Rutherglen are marking a milestone anniversary by giving back to a charity that’s close to their hearts.To celebrate 25 years of the family-run business, Derek and Annette Freeman, the owners of The Bistro are fundraising for the Beatson Charity in memory of Derek’s dad, Tully who died in 2022.The couple’s nephew John Kerr said: “The Bistro was operated from September 1999 by Derek’s mum and dad.

Annette and Derek took over just about a month before Covid, so it wasn’t ideal timing.“Sadly, round about that time Tully was diagnosed with cancer and we lost him.

The Beatson did a lot of good work with Tully and the family so we thought as it’s 25 years we’d do something for them.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
