A family has slammed police after calling to report that their little boy had been slashed - only to be told that no officers would be sent out.

Jaxon Summers, five, had been out playing in a park in Bradwell when he ran home covered in blood and told his mum Abby that he had been struck in the face.

The schoolboy's parent called 999 as she rushed him to hospital, telling police that she believed he had been attacked with broken glass.

The call handler then reportedly said that a unit would be dispatched immediately, Stoke-on-Trent Live reports. However, the family claims that they received a call three hours later to say that no officer would be sent out.
