Oprah Gail Winfrey (born Orpah Gail Winfrey; January 29, 1954) is an American media executive, actress, talk show host, television producer, and philanthropist. She is best known for her talk show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, broadcast from Chicago, which was the highest-rated television program of its kind in history and ran in national syndication for 25 years from 1986 to 2011. Dubbed the "Queen of All Media", she was the richest African American of the 20th century and North America's first black multi-billionaire, and she has been ranked the greatest black philanthropist in American history. By 2007, she was sometimes ranked as the most influential woman in the world.

ET Canada has an exclusive first look at Oprah Winfrey’s new programme “The Color of Care”. The documentary, set to air on the Smithsonian Channel in Canada on Sunday, May 1, traces the origins of racial health disparities to practices that began during slavery in the U.S.

and continue today during the COVID-19 pandemic. A sneak peek tells the story of Gary Fowler, with his son Keith Gambrell explaining how his father was sick with COVID-19 symptoms in March 2020 and tried to get help in three hospitals, but no one would take him in.

Winfrey shares, “At the height of the pandemic, I read something that stopped me in my tracks. I read a story about Gary Fowler, a Black man that died in his home because no hospital would treat him despite his COVID-19 symptoms. “As we continued to hear how the racial disparities in our country were exacerbated by the effects of the pandemic, I felt something needed to be done. “This film is my way of doing something, with the intention that the stories we share serve as both a warning and foster a deeper understanding of what changes need to take place to better serve us all,” she adds.
