Manchester United wouldn't still be pursuing a move for Frenkie de Jong if he hadn't told them he'd be willing to make a switch.
That's the view of former United striker Louis Saha, who believes De Jong doesn't want to upset the apple cart at Barcelona amid continued uncertainty surrounding his future.
Erik ten Hag made the midfielder his top target earlier this summer and the two clubs have long had an agreement in place for the transfer.
However, the move has hit several obstacles with De Jong's seeming reluctance to leave Camp Nou. Barcelona are doing everything in their power to strong-arm him out of the club or play on his heartstring to take a pay cut.
