EXCLUSIVE: A TV adaptation of Jennine Capó Crucet’s latest novel Say Hello To My Little Friend (Simon & Schuster, 2025) is in development at AMC Studios for AMC from Eva Longoria and Cris Abrego’s Hyphenate Media Group (Land of Women) and Gina Mingacci (Killing Eve), sources reveal to Deadline.

The dark comedy series will be written by Capó Crucet, who, we hear, has already written the pilot for the project which is described as Scarface meets Moby Dick.

We understand the TV series will follow the novel’s storyline quite closely. “Say hello to my little friend” is one of the most quotable lines in film history, spoken by Al Pacino while playing Tony Montana in Brian De Palma’s Scarface (1983).

Oliver Stone, as the screenwriter of the Miami-set feature, is credited for writing the line. The novel follows failed Pitbull impersonator Ismael Reyes—you can call him Izzy—who might not be the Scarface type, but why should that keep him from trying?
