An estate agent accused of pulling a pair of scissors on her ex-boyfriend and spitting at him during an argument over lockdown rules has been found not guilty of assault following a trial.

Helen Ollerton, 54, cut up a good luck card before allegedly turning the scissors on Wyn Rhys's bedding after he said he was going to the North European beer bar he ran, which had been ordered to shut due to the pandemic.

Mr Rhys, 54, an ex-psychology lecturer at Coventry University insisted he was going to do some paperwork but Miss Ollerton flew into a rage in the mistaken belief he was about to illegally open up the bar - a former mortuary - to customers.
