Escape to the Country's Nicki Chapman has described being diagnosed with a brain tumour as "the most frightening experience of her life".The 57 year old presenter opens up about her harrowing ordeal in her heartfelt new memoir So Tell Me What You Want, which is on sale now.
In her deeply personal narrative, Nicki shares the turmoil she faced after finding out about her benign brain tumour in 2019. "Receiving that news was, without doubt, the most shocking and frightening experience of my life - even worse than being chased by an elephant on safari with the Spice Girls." Following a triumphant operation to excise the tumour, Nicki has thrown herself into advocacy work for the Brain Tumour Charity, inspired by her own battle.
Although she must remain vigilant with regular scans every 18 months, she's embraced a positive outlook, extracting meaningful insights from her health scare.
Nicki shares a hopeful update: "When they took the tumour out, it didn't all come out, and the bit that was left has disappeared, which is not rare." Nicki has opened up about her health woes and how it transformed her outlook on life, revealing, "The only thing it really made me do is have a greater sense of gratitude.
