Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has a four-point criteria that he looks for in his dressing room leaders. During his £225 million spending spree last summer, Ten Hag focused on bringing in leaders to his squad and while last season the squad was widely criticised over the perceived lack of character, it is not something you would associate with the team anymore.
With Cristiano Ronaldo having departed under a cloud at the end of last year, there have been a number of new additions to the leadership group at United, each bringing their own strengths to the table.
Sources have told the Manchester Evening News that the leadership group is "pretty fluid" and not entirely set. The list of players largely regarded as Ten Hag's dressing room leaders, though, does include the likes of club captain Harry Maguire, Bruno Fernandes, David de Gea, Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, Raphael Varane, Casemiro and Tom Heaton. And, while speaking about the Brazilian earlier this season, the Dutchman revealed the traits he most admires about his defensive midfielder.
