Anthony Anderson and Jimmy Kimmel recited "Black Lives Matter" repeatedly together during the Emmys as a record number of Black artists were nominated in 2020.

The Black-ish actor took the stage at the Staples Center for a comedy bit centered on how the 2020 Emmys would have been an amazing ceremony for Black nominees and viewers, had the audience been able to be there in person.

When he took the stage to announce a new set of Emmy nominees, the actor launched into a monologue that Kimmel pretended was unrehearsed. "These Emmys would have been NBA All-Star Weekend and Wakanda all wrapped into one.

This was supposed to be the Blackest Emmys ever," Anderson said."Y'all wouldn't have been able to handle how Black it was going to be.
