Emmerdale viewers blasted a "stupid" plot detail as show stalwart Laurel faced a kidnap ordeal at the hands of Colin. On Tuesday (August 8) viewers saw her visit to the local councillor's home take a dramatic twist when he turned nasty - and refused to let her leave.
After being contacted by Marshall and his aunt Jean ahead of a trip abroad together, Laurel agreed to collect the teenager's passport to save him facing his homophobic father.
But when she arrived at the house, events quickly took a turn for the worse. As Laurel asked for Marshall's travel document, Colin told her the devil was "everywhere, waiting for a weakness".
He then accused her of being "steeped in denial". He said Laurel was "instrumental" in Marshall being taken away from him and declared she was "not going anywhere" until he was returned to him - locking her in his old bedroom.
