Emmerdale's Tate family now from co-star romance to tragic death

The Tate family, a staple of Emmerdale since their introduction in November 1989, have certainly left their mark on the soap.

The family, led by patriarch Frank Tate and including his son Chris, daughter Zoe and wife Kim, were introduced during the show's rebranding from Emmerdale Farm to just Emmerdale.They brought plenty of drama and gripping storylines to the Dale.

Kim is the only original member of the Tate family still in Emmerdale. So where are the other actors now? Frank Tate - Norman Bowler Frank, played by Norman Bowler, was the soap's first 'true' villain, known for his fiery temper and tendency towards domestic violence.

Before Kim took over Home Farm, it was Frank who ruled the roost. His character met a dramatic end in 1997 when the shock of Kim's return caused him to suffer a fatal heart attack, marking one of the most iconic episodes of Emmerdale.
