Emmerdale's Samantha Giles uses witchcraft in lockdown - and cast spell to find husband

‘I never ever thought I’d get here,’ coos Samantha, holding her new children’s novel in her hands. ‘It’s been such a labour of love and I’ve had so many rejections.

It’s something good that has come out of lockdown,’ she smiles. The actress, who left Emmerdale last November after playing Bernice Blackstock for over 20 years, had planned to pursue other acting roles.

But when lockdown happened, she put her energy into sharing her story, Rosemary And The Witches Of Pendle Hill. ‘I started writing it a few years ago but it was really hard getting an agent.

I thought that maybe the fact I had a bit of a profile might help me,’ she giggles. ‘But it made no difference who I was. I’m pleased actually.
