Emmerdale's Mark Charnock admits finding soap's 50th storm 'hard to watch' as he wins NTA

It's been a big week for Emmerdale as the soap is celebrating its 50th anniversary and the cast collected the award for Best Serial Drama at the National Television Awards on Thuesday.

Actor Mark Charnock, who has played the role of Marlon Dingle since 1996, also picked up the award for Serial Drama Performance for his portrayal of the aftermath of a devastating stroke attack.

Speaking to OK! and other press in the winners' room, Mark, 54, discussed watching the upcoming anniversary episode, which will feature a devastating storm.

He told us: "I lost myself in it. I forgot I was looking at my mates. "It's an overwhelming, it's really moving and it's really exciting." When asked how much the village will be changed by the storm Mark said: "It's a huge storm so lots of things are going to get wrecked but it's more the lives that are going to be wrecked, really." He continued: "It's going to irretrievably change people's lives and I found it really tough.There are some scenes it that I found really hard to watch." Speaking on Friday's Good Morning Britain, Mark again referred to the upcoming 50th anniversary episode, describing it as "dramatic" and "moving".
