Emmerdale fans think they have worked out who can save Belle King after a 'never been done' episode saw the abuse from her husband Tom escalate.

The ITV soap shone a light on the realities of coercive control in a relationship during Tuesday night's episode (May 7). Those tuning in to Emmerdale previously predicted Tom's behaviour would escalate after there was some concerning scenes in October when Tom popped the question to Belle and didn't take her turning him down very well, assuming it meant she didn't love him, and a brief move left her bleeding on the floor.

They did later get engaged with Belle popping the question to Tom and the pair tied the knot earlier this year. But their wedding night earlier this year ended with Belle in tears and sleeping on the sofa after Tom shouted at her and ridiculed her for wanting to read a letter from her late mum, Lisa. The first half of the special episode focused on the perspectives of Rhona and Marlon whose relationship has been tested in recent months over the arrival of Rhoan's ex, Gus, with their biological daughter, Ivy, after he used their frozen embryos to have a baby with he new wife.
