It's being dubbed 'super soap Monday' as the schedule on both ITV and BBC undergoes a shake-up. It was announced back in January that Emmerdale and Coronation Street would be moving to new time slots as of this month.
From Monday, March 7, the biggest soaps on British TV move into new optimal schedule slots, as ITV aims to build a "strong block of continuing drama". Meanwhile, Coronation Street makes the move to three hour-long episodes airing at 8pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The changes being made allow ITV National and International Evening News to become an hour-long programme which ITV says will help give even more focus on reporting from outside of London to reflect the whole of the UK.
However, there will be a bit of conflict for soap fans as rival soaps Emmerdale and EastEnders are set to clash under the changes.
