Emmerdale confirms legend's off-screen exit after 18 years on soap

ITV's Emmerdale confirmed the sad news in Tuesday 3rd April's episode, giving David an official off-screen exit. Back in November, David fled the village after discovering that his son Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) was in a secret relationship with his former girlfriend Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins).
While David promised he would return after learning of his dad Eric Pollard's Parkinson's diagnosis, it was revealed in Tuesday's episode that he had changed his mind.
After Jacob walked in on Eric and his mum Leyla engaged in an intense conversation, Eric revealed that his dad had rung. Jacob said, "I know what you're going to say but you don't need to look so worried. "This is great actually because I can apologise properly.
