Emmerdale's Jacob Gallagher received his A-Level results on Thursday's episode as he finally made a decision about his future in the village.
During the latest episode, Jacob, as well as his family, were left delighted to learn that he had received three As with Eric Pollard declaring: "The boy's a genius!" However, despite the incredible achievement, Jacob insisted that he's still not going to university as he wants to be around to help mother Leyla Harding after her rehab stint. The news left Victoria Sugden frustrated as she pointed out that he was making a "massive mistake" and tried to get Manpreet Sharma to change his mind, which backfired as Jacob declared: "I'm not going, end of!" But Jacob didn't realise that newcomer Naomi Walters overheard the conversation as she decided to have a chat with him later at The Woolpack.
Giving advice, Naomi told Jacob how much she regretted deferring her own university admission, saying: "If I hadn't ditched uni, I might have my act together by now..." Later in the episode, it was revealed that Naomi had changed Jacob's mind as he excitedly declared: "She convinced me the best thing I can do for Leyla is to make her proud of me.
