Former Emmerdale and Corrie star Louise Marwood has bravely spoken out about the secret cocaine battle that nearly killed her.The 43 year old said she developed the drug addiction after her character Chrissie White was killed off Emmerdale in 2018 and embarked on four stays in rehab to beat the problem.

The soap star, who was in treatment from April 2018 to 2021, is now speaking about her addiction, having launched a GoFundMe page to help finance her one-woman show called Rita Lynn: The Life Coach Who Wanted To Die, which is inspired by her struggles and is set to have two special performances at The Rosemary Branch in London in July. "Having completely decimated my life, this appeal is asking for the opportunity to put my life back together again," she told MailOnline.

Stating that the stage show represented her "addict brain that nearly killed me and kept me as sick as long as I was", Louise added: "I was very unwell for a very long time, and because of that, I want to use my platform to help other people, and that's what I'm asking for the opportunity to do really." She intends for her play to "carry a story of strength and hope" for other addicts currently suffering.

A short synopsis of the play by The Rosemary Branch reads: "Rita Lynn is a one-woman show from the creative brain of Louise Marwood, a hilariously dark comedy and cautionary tale following Imogen, a spiralling addict, who is teetering over rock bottom. "She has the lot - toxic boyfriend, weekend overdoses, waning dance career.
