nme.comEminem, Janet Jackson and more.Last night (January 22), the Songwriters Hall of Fame unveiled the inductees for its Class of 2025 after announcing the nominees in November.
Being inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame this year are George Clinton, The Doobie Brothers, Ashley Gorley, Rodney Jerkins, Mike Love and Tony Macaulay.Among the artists who were nominated back in November but did not make the cut are Eminem, Janet Jackson, Boy George, Alanis Morissette, Sheryl Crow, N.W.A., Bryan Adams and more.
A total of 26 artists were nominated, with only six being selected for induction.The six inductees will be honoured at the 2025 Induction & Awards Gala in New York City in June.2024’s inductees were R.E.M., Timbaland, Steely Dan, Hillary Lindsey and Dean Pitchford, with Cindy Walker and Prince receiving posthumous inductions.
SZA and Diane Warren also received special awards.In 2023, Jade, Snoop Dogg and Electric Light Orchestra’s Jeff Lynne led that year’s class of Songwriters Hall Of Fame inductees, alongside Gloria Estefan, Teddy Riley, Glen Ballard and Liz Rose.In a three-star review of Eminem’s latest album ‘The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce)’, NME wrote: “Much more powerful is ‘Temporary’, a genuinely moving ode to his daughter, Hailie, which proves Marshall Mathers can say something that matters when he wants to.“So, who killed Slim Shady?
