straight to your inbox Emilio Alvarez has accused David de Gea of a "lack of loyalty" after revealing he left Manchester United because he no longer wanted to work with the goalkeeper.
Alvarez was De Gea's goalkeeping coach at Atletico Madrid and he was recruited to the coaching staff at Old Trafford to work with his protege in the summer of 2016, with Jose Mourinho offering him the job in a bid to keep De Gea at the club.
But after De Gea signed a new contract to extend his stay at United until 2023 last summer, Alvarez surprisingly departed a few months later, leaving in September 2019, shortly after Richard Hartis had returned to the club as a goalkeeping coach.
