Some of Karla Sofia Gascon‘s old posts on social media are stirring up controversy in the midst of awards season.

The 52-year-old Oscar-nominated Emilia Perez actress sparked backlash after old Twitter posts about George Floyd and the protests that happened after his death in 2020, religion and diversity at the Oscars resurfaced on the social media app.

Her controversial tweets have since been deleted, but not before they were screenshotted and translateded. They also come amid speculation that Karla somehow disqualified herself from the Oscars, where she is nominated for Best Actress, over comments that she made about fellow competitor Fernanda Torres.
