Elton John’s ex wife has been praised for launching a legal action against the star. Reclusive Renate Blauel, 67, filed a High Court injunction believed to be over her appearance in Sir Elton’s 2019 autobiography, Me.

An ex-pal of the singer said: “It’s good that someone takes him to task. No one else has been brave enough.” Renate reportedly warned Elton, 73, worth £320million, not to breach their non-disclosure divorce deal in the book and now seeks “an official ruling”.

Me and biopic Rocket-man have upset some family and friends. Elton’s half-brother Geoff disputed claims their dad Stan never saw the star play and the film portrayal of Elton’s first manager Dick James angered some.
